Ingredients :
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups Egg whites (about 10-12 large eggs)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Directions :
- Place egg in large mixing bowl and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Sift very well powdered sugar and flour together.
- Beat eggs whites, cream of tartar, and vanilla with electric mixer on medium high until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
- Sift about 1/4 of flour mixture over beaten egg whites, fold in gently.
- Repeat sifting and folding in remaining flour mixture, 1/4 at a time.
- Pour into ungreased tube pan.
- Gently cut through batter with knife.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until top springs back.
- Immediately invert cake and allow to cool completely.
