Cocoa Apple Cake

Tender, Moist Cake That Keeps Well
Ingredients :
  • 2 cups C&H Pure Cane Granulated Sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks), softened
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate pieces (3 oz.)
  • 2 cups apples, raw grated (about 2 large)
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting
Directions :
  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan. In large bowl, beat sugar, eggs, butter and water until fluffy. Combine flour, cocoa, soda, cinnamon and allspice; beat into sugar mixture. Stir in nuts, chocolate, apples and vanilla. Spoon into pan. Bake 60 to 70 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes on rack. With long spatula, gently loosen cake from pan and turn out onto serving plate to cool completely. Frost with Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting.
