Apple Betty

Ingredients :
  • 6 cups apples, tart (about 4 large)
  • 1 cup C&H Pure Cane Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup C&H Pure Cane Golden Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 3 cups bread crumbs, coarse and dry, lightly toasted
  • 1/2 cup butter, unsalted (1 stick)
  • heavy whipping cream or vanilla ice cream
Directions :
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Peel, core, and thinly slice apples. Combine sugar and spices and toss with apples. In a 2-quart baking dish spread out half the apples, dot with half the butter and sprinkle with half the bread crumbs. Repeat. Bake for 45 minutes to an hour, until the apples are tender and the bread crumbs golden brown. Serve warm with a drizzle of heavy whipping cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
